A little help.
Back to your day.

Start with a quick check, or get in touch directly.

Your first few minutes.

System requirements: a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later.

  1. Open BlinkTide and allow Camera access when macOS asks. Select your camera in Settings.
  2. Choose a reminder interval and detection sensitivity. You can also show a visual cue or dim the background.
  3. Enable blink reminders. Use the menu-bar item to pause them, change sensitivity or check the optional Preview.

Screen-break reminders are separate: turn on 20-20-20 breaks in Settings if you want them. Your settings and calibration are used for the current session only.

Quick answers.

What does the menu-bar number mean?

It is an estimate of blinks from the last 60 seconds, not an average for the whole session. The number can decrease as older estimates leave that rolling window.

How do I change or stop a reminder?

In Settings, adjust Reminder after, the on-screen cue and background dimming. A recognised blink clears the cue. You can pause blink reminders from the menu at any time.

The camera is not working.

Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Then refresh cameras in the BlinkTide menu and select your camera.

The count seems off.

Face the camera in good light with both eyes visible. Lower sensitivity for extra counts, or increase it gradually for missed blinks.

How do I open or close Preview?

Use Control–Option–Command–V.

I see “!” or “--” in the menu bar.

A dash means paused or temporarily unavailable, for example when no face is visible. For “!”, open the menu to read the error and check Camera permission.
